Hello!
Arrived at 8am-ish thismorning in Dubrovnik. It's costing me a fortune to stay here - so 3 nights then I'm zipping somewhere cheaper. In the meantime have to make use of the sea and sand. Tonight will take a look at the nightclubbing street - tomorrow there's a japanese jazz dude playing, who sounds quite good, so want to know where to go! Tomorrow morning I'll explore the old town, tomorrow arvo I'll swim, then on Fri I may do an islands cruise - a whole day out including lunch and drinks for 18 pounds doesn't sound *too* bad.
The bus trip was quite horrificly long, but comfy enough. I was sitting next to Asja from Zagreb, who was really nice - we discussed tons of topics and I found out a bit about what it's like to live through a war and the subsequent reconstruction.
Today I've walked around and bought shorts. And had fun getting to the hostel. And spilled Gelati on my new shorts. Barely no people speak English here too, which is a little frustrating... haha we'll see, shouldn't matter too much on the dancefloor :-)
Cheers & keep that tan up (you know I am!)
PS. This was written at an *outdoor internet cafe*. I'm under all these trees... hehe kewl, eh!

Posted by: Russell on August 5, 2004 04:22 AMHi Sam Good to hear from you again over these past few days (after not hearing for siply ages!)
Obviously you are enjoying what you are doing immensely. ainsley and I spent about 6 days in Dubrovnik in 1989 - it was an enforced stay for some of those days as our VW Kombi had broken down in Friday lunch-time traffic in the middle of Dubrovnik!! We had to wait until a new clutch cable arrived from Sarajevo, hence the exptra "unplanned" days. We really loved the place though, especially the old walled city and we too took an island trip on a Sunday. It was great! The usual touristy thing, with even a "staged" local wedding for our enjoyment!
Keep fit and well AND happy!
Ciao Barbara
Posted by: Barbara Walton on August 5, 2004 04:58 AMHey Sam,
Hope you're not getting too preoccupied with saving money, mate. It certainly sounds like you are filling up your days. Which Croatian islands were you interested in going to?
No troubles at Boyne Road. I've got a job now as well so things are starting to fall into place. London, however, is humid one minute, wet the next. Some Eastern European beach weather would not go astray.
Enjoy,
Shan
