Hello!
Im quite excited to be in Croatia. I know everyone keeps telling me to go to Prague, but it is fun to explore parts of the globe that I know barely nothing about!
The train ride from Budapest was weird - we kept stopping, and at one stage we had to reverse to let another train past! I think they have only 1 line in many places in Hungary. Well, would rather we reversed than had a collision! I spent the train journey talking to Graeme (a scottish IT teacher - going to work and explore Mexico! Lucky bugger) and Alex, his english no-longer-an-academic friend. They were quite entertaining for the 6hr journey, along with a mad Budapest vocal actor guy, who seemed to like many of the historic cities - but whos first comment was always "ohh theres money there".
At Zagreb tons of people with packs jumped off... and barely no Hungarians! I met Kieren and Claire, and followed them to a hostel. Its nice to be in an environment where I can meet people, but the hostel isnt too nice. After meeting some Dutch guys and Irish Colin in my room, I took off with Kieren and Claire to get some food. Yummm venison steak! Croatian beer! Pancakes and chocolate! Cappucino! All for less than 10 pounds! Gotta love Eastern Europe! Not yet scrimping and saving, as you can see!
I slept so well last night - I think if Im careful I may even normalise my body clock! I got up at 9:30, and met Benjt and Annette from Sweeden. We went out looking for breakfast, although settled on Subway :-( although it was new to them. Now Im about to find a nice coffee and sit in the sun for a bit, then wander and take some photos about the place. Perhaps catch some opera or ballet tonight? Might make a nice change from manic dance music till 4am!
Keep well guys!
PS.. Just checked the news - Thanks for the text message (whoever it was) but am quite far from Prague.
FYI - current travel plans:
* Maybe the Plitvice Lakes national park - seems quite nice.. wooded hills, 16 turquoise lakes, waterfalls...
* Dubrovnik
* Somewhere on the way to Vysoke Tatry - on Lake Balaton??
* Vysoke Tatry
* Krakow
* Prauge
* Gdansk
* Bielsko Biala to visit friends
* ... (anywhere else in between or after the above places)
* Budapest

Quick Update Tues 3/8
Heading to Dubrovnik by bus at 9pm with 9 crazy Frenchies! It'll take 11 hours to get there - when I factor in a night of saved accomodation it is actually quite a cheap journey (cheaper than getting to Stanstead airport!!)
Hi Sam,
Great to hear about your adventures again. It must be great to have decent coffee again!!!
Have fun
love Mum

I know where to go now in London... the milk on the continent isn't that good this far south, so haven't yet had a *really* good cino. Down on the coast there was a large Italian influence, so hopefully they'll know abt coffee there!
