25 sleeps...

Hello All,

Hope you are all well! All of you southern folk must be getting used to warmer weather. When I spoke to Mum today it was "oh, it's not very warm, it's only 28". Here it's getting dark and icky... although frost covering everything in the mornings looks quite pretty! At least I'm keeping myself busy... the weather doesn't bother me that often (to the disbelief of many people!)

So since my last message... I've finished the production! Which was quite sad... I mean, you rehearse for all that time, then only get to perform 5 times! But I had a blast and met tons of great people. The whole "musical network" is starting to work again, I'm already involved in a charity concert that's on this Sat. ... but I'll come back to that.

I've posted some photos from the show below - unfortunately, stage makeup is designed for long, and not close distances... it comes out quite freaky in some of these photos! The cast party was really great too! Pat's husband Atheer (sp?) made *ridiculously* tasty food - will have to grill him for curry tips sometime soon!

You can read a review of the show here.

So it was quite strange to do *nothing* on Tuesday and Thursday nights after the show. I went to a charity pub quiz, and our team came 2nd! I took my "super team", Mrinmoy who knows statistics and sport, and Phil who knows movies and music, and I knew... well I knew how to organise! We were joined by Ben and Dawn (who knew lots of shows and classical music) and we stormed home, after a *really bad* first round. There's a photo of our team below with our winnings - some lollies and a bottle of Aussie white :-)

So the quiz and concert have been organised by Katie, who was the stage manager for The Sorcerer. She's trekking the Great Wall of China with her 2 sisters next year, and they need to raise £9,000 between them! They seem to have all bases covered with raffles, quizzes, concerts, competitions etc. I had the first rehearsal for the concert today, we're singing Mozart's Coronation Mass, and Vivaldi's Gloria... quite challenging pieces but they're sounding quite good already. I'll put some details below, pop in to mine afterwards for some drinks and nibbles!

CHARITY CONCERT

St Margarets Church, Lee Terrace
All proceeds go to Cancer Research UK

Featuring performances of:
  • Mozart's Coronation Mass
  • Vivaldi's Gloria
  • Vaughan Williams' The Lark Ascending

Family-wise, Amee (my cousin) has left to go back to Australia! A bit of a whirlwind visit, well for me I suppose - I only saw her 3 or 4 times. But I think she's been here for 3 or 4 months which isn't a bad stint. We went to the Tower of London last weekend, and saw the crown jewels :-) Oooh shiny! Afterwards, we went to Hard Rock Cafe for dinner, and got a picture taken with Bob Dylans USA-shaped guitar and hat :-) Hope you had a safe trip home, Amee.

This weekend has been strange as well - I was supposed to have Kaye visiting this weekend, we had made really good plans... and then she couldn't make it! I still went to the football, and saw Wigan lose against West Ham :-( Had really good seats, and was singing with the away fans, so it was still good fun. Hope you find time to visit later, Kaye!

... and I hear that Kim & Ryan are visiting round xmas! Should be quite good to have them over... still don't know if Zola is visiting as well! Hrmm they are all quite crazy - The silly season should be *really* interesting this time round!

Take care all - Counting down from 25... :-)
