Good evening!
Well tis evening here - just after midnight - trying hard not to get too used to the whole internet thing again... yes now I have internet access at home! Although this laptop is a bit clunky - They're all getting replaced quite soon I think.
We moved the clocks the other week, daylight savings time now. Just when I'd gotten used to the London-Perth time difference as well! I think now that Perth is 7 hours ahead of London... so many of you will be getting up to go to work - when I have 2 weeks of holidays! Yepp this teaching gig is alright - one week of my holidays at least will be marking, and sorting out my training stuff though... grrrr. But still, can't complain - too much :-)
Time to put some new photos up after writing this too! I'm actually running out of space, which is quite annoying - anyone involved with server side stuff that can offer me some good value online space?? Wouldn't like to think what would happen if this automatic system reached the disk quota!
So... those of you who are musically inclined may understand the title - I can tell you that keeping your feet warm here is a good thing... and that I've changed my mind on something quite freaky - carpeted bathrooms! My new house has two of them, and although I originally thought it was so strange, I think it will be hard to go back to anything but a carpeted bathroom!
So these two weeks seem quite promising - I'm going to try and get up early-ish tomorrow, and zip to the shops and grab some tomatoes - I'm going to whip up some bacon, eggs and grilled tomatoes for my first holiday brekky, closely followed with some hot cross buns.... mmmm :-) I'll try and get into the marking early, and if I make good progress I'll perhaps zip off to Ireland for a week or so. If I do I'll book via the internet last minute - I think the flights are quite cheap that way, and I have no problems flying the next day! :-) The other option is to save cash - going back to Australia in July is going to be quite expensive.
So I haven't really put my travel plans online yet! School finishes on the 18th July. This week I'm going to delay my return flight (that I already have) back home until after then - it goes via Bali, so I may catch a short trip to Singapore and hang with Denise for a few days when I'm in the neighbourhood... maybe with a day or two lazing in the Bali sunshine as well! I'll get to Perth and spend probably two weeks there, then off to Adelaide for a week with my Mum and brother to visit the family there. Then hrmm two weeks left to go somewhere exotic - perhaps Brazil or somewhere South America? I'd really like to go to Turkey or Egypt but at the moment I think I'll leave that corner of the globe alone! So I guess you can see that I do have a bit of saving to do!
There's so much I should buy here too! Well, not *too* much - I don't even have a stereo at the moment, and I'd like some shelves for my room - at the moment I think they'll wait though. What I am going to get very soon is an indoor planter box! Need some greenery in my room - I wonder if you can grow flowering plants indoors? They probably all need too much sun! I'll have to report any successes or faliures online... uncharted territory, Sam!
OK so that's about all for the moment. I'll need to update this more often, as I always think "that's something I can put on my website" then can't remember what they are later... grrr!
Ohh, one is that we supposedly have a psychic cleaning lady! Haven't met her yet, but I'd be quite interested in if she can read me! My housemates say she is quite freakily good!
Keep well, ppl!
PS: Being back online, I'll be ICQ-ing and MSN-ing every now and then - 8942346 and samy@ii.net respectively.
Posted by Sam at April 14, 2003 07:46 AMHello Sam, What a good lot of info. and pictures.
We're really looking forward to seeing you when you come to Adelaide. Watch out for the SARS virus when you visit Singapore. Perpaps you better check out the situation before you finalise your travel plans. Love Gran and Pa.
P.S. We've just had Alison, Phoebe and Isabella here for lunch as its school holidays here.
Hey Sam!
Good to hear from you again. We're just starting to come out of the deep winter freeze here in Canada, temperatures are finally becoming liveable! If you do make it to Ireland, and are doing a self-directed tour, I'd recommend the Musical Pub Crawl in Dublin. Much fun and good music too as well as the Aran Islands, which you can reach via Galway. Self-directed tours in Ireland are pretty easy, even by bus, which is pretty cheap. Or at least it was when I was there 3 weeks ago!
Take care!
Kate
If you have trouble remembering things get a palm pilot! I have exactly the same problem as you and my one is a lifesaver... Anyway enough flogging 3com's
wares. If you need extra space for photoes try converting them all to PNG. They should then be
a fair bit smaller than jpeg.
And if you think the carpeted bathroom floor is funny you obviously haven't seen the carpeted toilet
seats... Now *they* are a life-saver :-)
