A Chook With No Head... :-)

Yepp that's me.

Running around tons these days. I was teaching a full timetable in the last week before half term - but not with all the administrative extras that go along with it! Now there's marking, filing, assessing... wow!

And my training programme has started - it turns out I'm too young! So I do all the work to become a qualified teacher before I'm enrolled - then when I turn 24 they come out and do an initial and final assessment - then I'll be finished! So it turns out that I'll probably be here for another 12-week term in 2004. A little annoying (since I was considering maybe doing a US summer camp mid 2004) but it's the lightest term of the year - should survive. :-)

I didn't really conclude the Candace whirlwind visit story. We ended up going our seperate ways, which was a bit of a shame - tis never good leaving such a great gal, but I don't think long distance would have worked. Will have to keep in touch though. I'll post you a photo or two of our valentines dinner soon - twas a really nice evening.

My trip to Scotland was great! Was quite relaxing and was great chatting to my (Great auntie?) Mabel. Poor woman, I probably talked the whole time I was there! But then again, she's a bit of a nutcase too :-) so I think we understood each other most of the time. I saw the house where my great great grandma lived, and couldn't see the house where my great grandfather lived (in Alloa) cos it was torn down a while ago. We went to see Stirling castle, and went for a couple of scenic drives. It turns out that on the tour I went really close to Alloa! I did some research into the Robertson clan, and now I have a little book about the Robertsons and a "Hunting Robertson" scarf! Tis really warm :-)

It's nearly time for me to be kicked out of my house! I only had a 2 month short term lease and it's nearly over! My housemates Mrinmoy, Lisa, Stu and Louise are kewl, so it will be annoying to leave them, and I'll have to shift all my stuff again! Arghhh! Now I have a keyboard to move, and double bed sheets, towels, more clothes, a laptop etc, so it's going to be quite annoying! Will try to enlist some people to help :-) I've only seen two houses so far - both the same owner and across the street from each other. Still in Lewisham for convenience but in a much quieter section. I'm going there tomorrow at noon to check it out in the daylight, and if it's OK then I'll sign the deposit there and then. Will cost £80pw - or just over $220AUD per week for a double room in quite a nice house - bay windows and high-ish ceilings and atrsy areas and a garden! Will keep you informed with progress!

So tonight - I'm off to meet some friends at the pub. I called Tasha the other day - met her in Berlin last year - and she's actually one of those social-ish people! Like, wow! Most of the people I've made friends with here are happy to sit at home and watch videos and not meet up often (yes, you know who you are!) so it's good to get out and about for a change!

Take care everyone - great to see so many comments recently! Sorry about so long between updates - will try and put more effort in, promise :-)

Cya!

Hi Sam, Great to hear from you and hear a bit about Scotland. We sent your birthday card yesterday which will probably go to your address at 422 Lewisham High Street. Hope it catches up with you. Love Gran and Pa.

Well, you are still managing to sound coherent, my friend. I hope the move doesn't cause too much grief. Did you cover any old ground in Scotland? Life goes on in Oz. Doing advanced Latin dancing classes has been a new challenge. Evan has just got back to London from Brazil and is also house hunting and back in Bayswater for the moment. That 'burb seems to have a strange magnetic pull on travellers.

Hey Sam. Ah Scotland. Damn travel bug! I wandered around Stirling Castle last June. What a gorgeous place. Hard to believe the battles that went on there. Did you get up to the William Wallace monument? (Nice scotch distilleries around there too!)
I'm winding things up here in Brisvegas. There's just this little thing called a thesis to complete and then I'm outta here!
All the best with your move. Hope to catch up with you soon.
