Loving Luxembourg

Hello Everyone!

Sorry it's been so long since I've written! It's been so hard to find cheap internet cafes recently... and there's been so much else to see!

After the last update I stayed in Berlin a couple more days. There's tons of kewl art in Berlin! I went to the Pergammon museum, which has all these ancient artifacts, including this Pergammon Altar? There's like this huge freize showing gods fighting giants, and these massive steps leading to another freize, and these horse statues on top... hrmm... this all requires photos! Anyway it's a few thousand years old! Then there's this gate which is huge colourful tiles... I need to do some research to find out what these things are called again... hrmm maybe there are many benefits to updating often... I remember more!

I also went to the Altes museum. There was this impressive circular area with many statues around, and the centrepiece was supposed to be this really famous "praying boy", but there was this big yellow cherry-picker-style lift there so they could do renovation work! which was a shame. The statue of the boy is really interesting - it's been owned by tons of famous people. It originally had no arms, and then the arms were added by Napolean... then he sold it and it ended up that the Prussian king bought it... and then Napolean conqured Prussia and got the statue back! Hrmm great lengths just to get a statue back ;-)

So I'm in Luxembourg now. Mum & Dad always said it was really nice, and I agree with them! Around the centre of town is this valley and river... tis pretty kewl... have taken tons of photos of the archey bridges! Yesterday I went with Zola the crazy yankee (actually... maybe I need to distinguish between these crazy people... I'm meeting too many of them for them to have the same description!) We wanted to walk to France! It's not many km... but not really a nice walk... and then we thought we could walk to Belgium! That was even closer... only 20km... but we'd still have to walk along some big highways! In the end we just went to Clareveaux, walked up and down some more hills!, saw a monestry and some museums... a weird war museum (more like a hobbiest's collection of trinkets) and this other photographic exhibition which was quite good.

Ohhh we also went to this nightclub on Sat night... But my starts at clubs seem to be getting later! I think we got in at about 2am... at least it wasn't as crazy as in Berlin! Beforehand I was just singing away at the bar! These two french luxembourgers were requesting songs from me... haha was quite funny! All I can sing in french is (I can't spell it!) the one where you sing about the bells... someone write it for me so I won't have to embarras myself! (OK I can't spelll english words, do you expect me to spell French stuff??) But anyway I was singing that too...

Yepp... not much longer left of this free access!!! Today is going to be mostly wandering, but I might visit a food expo thingy... mmmm!!

... Tilll later folks...

O.K. Sam, if you are going to Switzerland you'd better get some yodelling lessons. When you stand on top of one of the mountains you'll feel like yodelling anyway. Glad to hear you're O.K. and still getting lots of history lessons. Love from Gran and Pa.

Hi Sam,
You brought back lots of memories of Luxemborg. Do you know they used to call it Lunchenborg because all the tour buses would stop there for lunch?

The song you were singing was Frere Jacques. Sounds like you are having a great time. Think of the rest of us slogging away at work occasionally!

Love from Mum xxx
