or "how to see too much art in a day"
Wow! TOday was kewl :-) I'm writing this at the moment with Sabine [From Switzerland], Shannon [a fello OzTraylian] and Anja [deutschland]... we ate brekky (for free this time!!) ad then had coffee... and then went to Buckingham Palace... got really wet as well! at least my brolly works OK! We saw the guards but it was too wet for them to change! :-( ... although at St James's palace I got a movie of the guard walking about... might be a bit big to post online though.
From there we went to the tourism info centre and I booked my scottish tour! It's called the "compass buster", and cost a bit... but it means I'll get to see tons of spots in not much time... it's squashed into the time before I go to Poland. I'll get to spend 3 days north, and 3 days in the south... Shannon is on the same tour. I'll visit Glasgow for a couple of days before leaving from Edinburgh... will have to check out Motherwell, which is where some of my ancestors were from.
We got free food at the tourism centre too... freebies are kewl :-)
Hrmm.... this message is weird... writing too fast!
We went on to the national gallery (I showed the others around) and then went to St Martin, and then went to St Paul's cathedral (which was closed!) and then went to the tate modern gallery (crossed the milennium bridge again).
These new ppl are a bit strange... well really nice... and not too bizarre by our standards... but then they are pretty relaxed :-)
Sabine is addicted to shopping... is travelling alone (which all good Swiss gals would never do) and has a dodgey dutch boyfriend... haha (she insists he's not dodgey in a cutesy puppy-dog-face voice! ) ... Nah Jona just kidding :-) She does defend you really well!
Anja is kewl... tats and all :-) and we've seen pictures of her in Germany... and she was painted red! haha that's brave!
Shannon is a singer! pretty unusual to find Aussie singers... we'll be trying to hunt down a karaoke bar a bit later... when I have a bit more time I'll upload a photo of us all!
Okay... this mail is a bit backwards... I would normally write about where I'm staying first! It's not anywhere as clean as Earls... but the ppl are OK... and the music in the bar last night was good! Happy hour beers are only £1.50 so that's good too.
Posted by Sam at September 10, 2002 03:23 AMHi Sam,
Really enjoying your exploits! Sounds like you are having a great time and meeting lots of people. I enjoyed the pics you sent as well - they sure were big! Did you get my SMS? Not sure if it would work or not. Interesting how the free food and cheap beers mean so much when you're on a limited budget isn't it. Looking forward to the next instalment.
Love ya.
Mum xx
Enjoying your travels. Wish I were there. Would love to go on the Big Eye! Aren't Parliament Buildings wonderful? You must sail down to Hampton Court.
