Hello!
This is the 1st travel diary entry! I only want to pay for 10 mins of internet time so here goes (excuse my no proof reading!)
I'm in Bali! It's 29degrees... I've just walked around for about 90 mins around Kuta, which is this tuoristy district, but I managed to walk far enough that I was seeing more than just hotels..
Anyway that's what's happening now... let's rewind
I didn't sleep last night! Due to slackness and last minute hickups, I rocked up at the airport at 6am with no sleep. Guy, Denise and Matt were there to see me off in addition to my family... you guys rock :-)
So... I got onto the plane and there was 3 ppl from a family in front of me and 2 ppl next to me... the parents, grandparents, a kid and a 5 month old boy. I was talking to the Grandma for quite a while... they've been to bali like 17 times.... !
Anyway I slept through takeoff (not the first time I've done that btw) and the rest of the trip was fairly uneventful... except that the kid knocked my glass of water all over my pants! Luckily it dried before I walked into the airport.... :-/
Then I got a taxi... I was going to come to Kuta... but the guy said he could take me further... I was like "how much will that cost" and he said don't worry! So I was just hanging with that guy... going to shops... eating lunch etc for a few hours! He was showing me to shops... but I pretty sure he'd have to be getting some kind of kickback thing. He's going to come back here to pick me up at 8pm. So I got a whole guided tour for $5! I guess the question is... do I have to tip him? He supposedly works 7 days a week... so either he's telling the truth and I believe him, or I'm fooled by a wolf in sheep's clothing...
Bali is really quite kewl (Denise??? hehe). The resorts are really nice.... like big flat spaces of sand, wooden tables and chairs, candles and tablecloths, overlooking the sea... or this spa-cafe double storey outdoor mezannine thing... also overlooking the sea... May post some piccies here later
And for KC... karaoke bar MASSAGE parlors!

Just the thing for mid winter nights there. And what a way to catch the girls! A batik shirt all the way from Bali! - Classy! That was Ben. Hope you get some sleep on the long flight. See ya later.

It sounds like you had quite an enjoyable day. I'm not sure how you manage to sleep through the take off! That's the most enjoyable part of the flight!
I have never been to Bali so I would love some happy snaps :)
