I booked my first location today! "Earl's Court Youth Hostel"... right in the centre of London... I'm only 3 1/2 Km from Buckingham palace...
Having said that I'm paying a premium! But you've gotta expect that... I'm only there for 3 days, and I'll make sure I use that time to find somewhere close enough, but much cheaper!
Managed to track down an (admittedly pathetic) image on the web...

Guy, will you do the honours? haha :-)
Click on more to read about Earls Court.... ohh dear!
Information on the area of Earl's Court
The name of this area derives from the name of the Earls of Warwick and Holland. This area is also known as Kangaroo Valley due to the influx of Australians and New Zealanders which occurred in the 1970s. The seventies also saw this area become the gay capital of London, a position recently challenged by trendier Soho. There is an abundance of pubs and inexpensive restaurants around here. Earl's Court is also know for its Exhibition Halls which put on concerts, shows and exhibitions throughout the year.
Ahhh... I think that's what you get for booking before reading about the area... Sounds like it might provide a *colourful* start to the trip.... :-/
